California
California apostille requirements for background checks
To get an apostille for a California criminal history background check, you'll need to obtain the background check from the California Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ will provide a document signed by the Attorney General / Criminal Identification Specialist (who signs the letter on behalf of the DOJ)
These documents do not need to be notarized, the signatures of Attorney General or Criminal Identification Specialist (who signs the letter on behalf of the DOJ) can be authenticated directly.
